Betsy Deane

Admissions Director

 

Betsy brings a unique blend of talent and experience to her role as Admissions Director. She has more than twelve years experience in human resources, communication management and administrative support. Beyond her professional background, Betsy also brings experience in outdoor recreation, organic gardening and music. She has studied music and theater and often blesses us with her voice at Cherokee Creek events!

Betsy’s career includes working as Media Coordinator and administrative support for Edelman Public Relations Worldwide, New York, New York ; Human Resources and Finance for Allied Signal Laminate Systems, and at Wesson, Taylor, Wells & Associates, Public Relations, Columbia, South Carolina. She is also a certified Master Gardner through the Oconee County, Clemson Extension, Master Gardner Program.

Betsy has earned credits towards her BS/BA at Southern Weselyan University in Central South Carolina and the University of South Carolina in Lancaster South Carolina. She has studied guitar at the New School in New York, Jazz /Voice at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in Milwaukee and majored in Theater/Voice at St. Mary’s College in Raleigh North Carolina. 

Beth Black, President of Cherokee Creek Boys School, says, "Betsy's warmth and professionalism are a dynamic combination for our team. The admissions role is critical to our program and Betsy is the perfect person to represent Cherokee Creek. She is bright, outgoing, organized, upbeat and tireless! And her positive outlook on life is contagious!

According to Betsy, "I cannot think of a more rewarding job than to help a child find his inner spirit and retrieve his old smile. The opportunities that Cherokee Creek brings to the students and staff as a learning community are tremendous. We are definitely on the cutting edge in our curriculum and with our approach in helping the boys find what is real and true about themselves."

Betsy loves singing, sailing and walking her dog Dobro, but her favorite past time is spending quality time with her husband Will.
