Darrell G. Yardley, PhD, LPC

Therapist

Darrell is a health educator, author, and counselor with a doctorate in zoology specializing in psychobiology (mind-body interconnection) and sexology (the study of human sexuality). His experience includes ten years of clinical counseling in both private practice and medical and university settings. His specialty in psychobiology and the mind-body interconnection enables him to utilize the body's own natural healing processes in his counseling. His therapeutic methodology is eclectic, drawing from , behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, transpersonal, existential-humanistic, transactional analysis, and other standard counseling modalities. These approaches are broadened with an understanding for pastoral (Judeo-Christian) and other spiritual (Native American and Buddhism) traditions as well as secular practices. He has lectured and written extensively in the area of the psychobiology of mind-body-spirit-nature healing.

Dr. Yardley is a National Certified Counselor, a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Diplomate of the American Board of Sexologists, and a certified clinical sexologist. He is also certified in advanced clinical hypnotherapy, energy release (breathwork) therapy, Morita therapy, and coaching.

In addition to his book WindWalker: Journey into Science, Self, and Spirit, he has published over 75 articles, manuals, and papers in biology, sociology, spirituality, and counseling. Dr. Yardley is Professor Emeritus of Zoology of Clemson University with over 25 years of teaching and research in molecular biology and genetics, from which he draws heavily for his psychobiology specialty.
