A Word from Parents

“The first time I came to the school I was really scared. I remember walking in the lodge and it was such a warm place…the building, the atmosphere was just warm and welcoming. People turned to me and smiled and said, “Hello, we’re so glad to see you.” …I was just embraced with love…that was the start… and it’s never ended.”
-Parent from Texas

“We just spent four days with our beautiful son and had the most wonderful time! I have not seen him in such a happy, peaceful place in many years. We met with the counselors before our departure and it was such a good meeting… it’s all about healing, in every sense of the word.”
-Parent from Virginia

“Our son was in a traditional school and because of all the social and academic pressures, he just fell apart. We had to find a way out for him. We didn’t just want a boarding school…we wanted a school that had that family environment and that’s the uniqueness of CHEROKEE CREEK…it’s got the best of what a family and a school can offer.”
-Parents from Maryland

A HEALING ENVIRONMENT

At Cherokee Creek, we believe that children need love, structure, laughter, creative outlets, and time for introspection. We offer all of this in a healthy, natural environment that includes good food, exercise, play and a caring staff who offer their love and support.

WE SEEK THE TRUTH THAT LIES WITHIN

We believe that children need hope and a positive vision of their future. They need to discover their inner goodness – the truth about themselves and the world around them. We lead them on a gentle, non-punitive path of self-discovery by helping them identify and break old thought patterns and behaviors, and practice healthy lifestyle choices.

WE'RE A FAMILY

Our Cherokee Creek students are young (11 to 15.). They need a sense of “home” to feel safe and supported as they grow. We have an exceptional staff who create a family-style environment that feels like home.

WHAT THE FOUNDERS SAY

“We founded CHEROKEE CREEK because our son struggled with adoption issues, ADHD and learning challenges. Our household had become a war zone and for years we looked everywhere for appropriate help. We remember how despairing the search was, and the tremendous relief and gratitude we felt when we found our answer…an emotional growth school. As the healing took place for our son and our family, we vowed that our knowledge and passion would be used to serve other families who are finding their way with a struggling child. CHEROKEE CREEK is a labor of love and dedicated to healing children and restoring hope to families.”

"The family is one of nature's masterpieces."

~George Santayana

“When we found CHEROKEE CREEK, it really felt different to us because they were looking for the good parts in the kids…allowing them to express what they were always capable of expressing – to be who they are able to be – but just couldn’t find their way to it. We’ve seen our son find his way back. We never, ever thought we would be able to get there on our own…we are so grateful.”
-Parents from Maryland

“One of the things that we noticed right away was that they tap into the true potential of the boys…their inherent goodness. The boys seem to achieve their sense of excellence… which is very refreshing.”
-Parent from Pennsylvania

“One element that is very special about CHEROKEE CREEK is the level of respect that the staff shows to the boys…and the boys, in turn, show to the staff. There is a genuine connection of affection and appreciation for one another as human beings.”
-Parents from Pennsylvania

“What allows me to sleep at night is not only are they extremely competent people, but they also love my boy – and that is something that is immeasurable.”
-Parent from Texas
